Ambisi Gresini Racing untuk tetap menurunkan pembalapnya di seri terakhir Moto2 Valencia (6/11), akhirnya tidak sia-sia. Michele Pirro yang merebut posisi pole di sesi kualifikasi berhasil mengakhiri balapan di podium utama. Kemenangan Pirro di seri pamungkas adalah kemenangan pertama dan ini dipersembahkannya untuk Marco Simoncelli.

Jalannya balap Moto2 memang berlangsung dalam kondisi berbeda. Dimana hujan ringan terus mengguyur di beberapa titik Sirkuit Ricardo Tormo, namun tidak membuat permukaan lintasan jadi basah. Pirro yang mengawali balapan dari grid pertama, tidak terlalu memaksakan performanya di awal balapan. Meski begitu, ia berhasil membawa motornya masuk ke garis finish paling pertama.

Hasil yang diraih oleh Pirro, sontak membuat Fausto Gresini menangis haru di tepi lintasan. Pasalnya Pirro berhasil mempersembahkan hadiah besar bagi Marco Simoncelli dan tim Gresini Racing yang masih berduka.  “Saya sangat senang karena ini adalah balapan terakhir musim 2011. Saya juga bangga karena Marco Simoncelli terus bersama saya hingga ke garis finish. Kemenangan ini untuknya dan tim,” ujar Pirro.

Keunikan Moto2 Valencia bukan hanya terdapat pada Pirro di podium utama pertama kali. Namun semua pembalap di podium, baru pertama kali meraih posisi finish tersebut. Yaitu Mika Kallio finish di podium kedua dan Dominique Aegerter dari Swiss finish di podium ketiga. Aegerter bahkan langsung memotong ujung rambutnya setelah berada di Parc Ferme.

Tapi beberapa pembalap harus berakhir di gravel, seperti Bradley Smith, Yuki Takahashi hingga Stefan Bradl. Beruntung ketiga pembalap tersebut dinyatakan tidak mengalami cedera parah. Hanya Yuki Takahasi yang harus dibawa ke rumah sakit terdekat untuk melakukan pemeriksaan intensif.

Kejuaraan Moto2 tetap dimenangi oleh Stefan Bradl, karena tautan poinnya  di klasemen pembalap masih unggul 23 poin dari Marc Marquez. Sementara Marquez tidak ikut di seri terakhir Moto2 2011. (otosport.co.id)

Dani Pedrosa in actions

Motegi (ADS) - Dani Pedrosa MotoGP Japan managed to become champion. Repsol Honda rider was successfully defeat the Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo and teammate Casey Stoner.
