An earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale shook southeastern Turkey near the border with Iran on Sunday afternoon (23/10)

 
Earthquake in southeast Turkey, killing at least 138 people, and 350 wounded.

The epicenter was located in the province of Van, and occurred midday on Sunday. Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay, between 25 to 30 buildings and dormitories collapsed in the town of peas and 10 other buildings collapsed in the city of Van.

Television reports showed a number of buildings collapsed and cars were destroyed overwritten buildings in the city of Van.

The area is overwritten earthquake fault is located in the upper crust plates and small earthquakes occur almost every day.
